bored beyond belief #4 – PTL for Tammy Faye!

July 30, 2007

Listen here!

tammyfayebakker.jpg Instead of talking about some of the personal transitions in my life I do a little audio cast in memory of one of my favorite former televangelists Tammy Faye (Bakker) Messner.

Hear a clip from her days in a children’s puppet ministry with first hubby Jim Bakker!

Hear her sing Run Towards the Roar!

Tammy never admitted to any guilt for her and her husband’s days from The PTL Club. All she ever wanted was to sit in the back of a limousine to face the lions of her life.

Me, too.

Thanks to Princess Sparkle Pony for providing invaluable clips from Tammy’s ministries.

“mission statement” for bored beyond belief

July 3, 2007

I had planned to do more blogging than I have actually thus far done. Life, as I’m sure it is for you, has been very busy sometimes.

Here is my “mission statement” for bored beyond belief: I want to write about the transitions that I am faced with over the next year.

For example, I’m finishing a dissertation and doctoral program; I’m moving from the west coast to the mid-west; and I’m starting a new job in September. I have the opportunity (necessity?) to become familiar with a whole new city, apartment, set of colleagues and friends, work schedule, etc.

I also want this blog to not only be personal, but also about larger topics such as politics, society, culture, or ethics that affect my life in some way. I hasten to add that I had another blog that lasted approximately two years that was mostly focused on religion and politics with the occasional post about personal things. I want to flip that: have a blog more focused on personal things while offering the occasional post about politics, ethics, social issues, and of course Paris Hilton.
