bored beyond belief #26 – See the Democrats Implode
June 3, 2008
Listen here [14:19]
An inadequate black male only running because of a white woman? (Thanks to Towelroad for the link)
A political rant/reflection from Joe. G. Let’s watch the Democrats (continue to) implode.
Is this due to “identify politics”? I wonder and wonder.
Reminds me of the liberal Quakers I was a part of for about 20 years and their in-fighting. Mia colpa.
My political priorities: single payer health care over glbt anti-discrimination laws over than same-sex marriage laws (if I must choose).
Then I offer some updates about hives and the Death Watch 2008 list (Charlton Heston’s hands are now cold and dead).
Please comment? Yes?

Infighting?! Who’s ever infoughten? Actually I’ve been pretty bored beyond belief by the last six months of stupid Quaker blogging. No hope for the Quakes but hopefully the Dems might pull it together, we’ll see.

Holy Quaker! It’s Martin Kelley! Why am I not surprised that you found this post given the link to Quakers?
Glad you found it. I do hope that the Dems will pull it together some how, some way! Thanks for stopping by and for your linky love, too.

bottom line , i hate too be so blunt about it !1 the U.S is f–ked!! thank bush !! yes too everyone that voted him..maybe we can spend some more money on the war!! where in a recession ..now clinton is out ..not trusting that obahama ..so now we will have another republican!!
June 5, 2008 at 12:16 am
Naw, you’re not being that blunt, Susan. It’s frustrating – that’s what I was trying to get across. I guess I trust Obama more than a lot of other folks (David, the Zilla and boyfriend feels like you). Yet, I’m concerned that we’ll have another Republican again – that’s why I podcast about it!
Thanks for listening and commenting, Susan!

Okay, keep in mind this is being written by a guy who considers the US to be semi-benevolently fascist.
Whoever gets elected will simply determine who gets the money, and thus the power (hint, it’s not you or me). When was the last time you were actually represented by your government? Our voice is token at best. The two party system in this country represents big money (business and banking), not the general populace.
I see two solutions, revolution or the unionization of all Latino GLBT’s.
I swear that person talking at the front end of the cast was Buddy Hacket.
lower case paul
June 5, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Well, I agree with you paul about the whole issue of big money being most represented by each of these candidates. I’m more concerned about appointments to the Supreme Court and where the “extra” money goes to (war vs. welfare, etc.). These days I think the local and state races are more important than the federal so…
Ha, about the person’s voice who was complaining about Obama – maybe she’s related to Buddy Hacket!

i would be shocked if Obama wins !!! thats just my view ..the united states is in trouble ..I listen too the news , the recession ..it flips me out !! people are going without food ,,gas prices our now over 4.00 a gallon !! Everyone is raising prices ..ciggeretts are over 6 dollars ..thats a good thing ..i am just feeling so bad for the poor people !!
June 6, 2008 at 1:34 am
the lady’s opening comments…tragically ignorant.
there are still enough black people supporting hillary clinton that I don’t think the same style rant would have even an issue to concern the media about.
what does concern the media?
the fact that a black man (yes, black. after all, by the democrats (dixiecrats) own historic rules, “one drop” is all is takes) has won their contest to be the party’s nominee.
June 6, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Susan,
Well, I’m not so pessimistic about his losing although it will be a close race (at least from my point of view). But, whoever wins has a BIG mess to clean up given the past 8 years of incompentence!
JW,
Good point – Clinton does have plenty of black people who support her. The whole situation highlights how much racism and sexism is still present all around us.
Thanks for listening and commenting – much appreciated!

First off, thanks for happy b’day. It was a great day. Now, with regard to the implosion of the left, I absolutely have to agree with everything you mentioned. Now that Clinton has stepped out of the race and and is endorsing Obama for the good of the party… yeah right! I think there will be a Rep back in the White House. I can only hope that things will get better.
June 10, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I’m glad you had a great day for your birthday, Judy! We’ll see if the Democrats can pull it together over the next few weeks and months. It will at least be interesting to watch!
Love to you and I’m always happy to know that you listen AND comment!

Joe, you have crossed the line for the last time! After your incendiary anti-liberal Quaker remarks, a committee of liberal Quakers have issued a Fatwa against you. That means that individuals and groups of Quaker will descend upon you and crash in your anti-Quaker gay lifestyle with silent worship. Thanks to you, liberal Quakers are now unified in our Fatwa against you. Peace and Light, Peterson
June 20, 2008 at 12:43 am
Peterson,
I know, I know, I’m very evil for picking on the Quakers. Then again, I always pick on you so…
June 24, 2008 at 2:01 pm
I read Obama’s book, and he wrote about how people had become disenfranchised with the political process in America and about bringing everyone to common ground. I think he’s absolutely correct, but by now (especially over the last 8 years) I’ve become so polarized that I’m no longer interested in common ground; I’m interested in bombing the Red States. I’ve become a single issue voter focused on what’s best for gay families; they are – as you put it – my constituency and I now judge everything in the political arena by its relevance to what’s best for my own constituency first. I don’t have much experience with the Left (as a Rational Anarcho-Syndicalist I’ve always found them too conservative for my taste), but I can see that this is probably how that process of identity politics and factionalization that you’re talking (okay, ranting) about begins, and I think that the political environment under the recent Bush administrations has only accelerated the process.
June 24, 2008 at 6:46 pm
So what’s your point, Brime Prime? Well?
Hey, the neo-cons were very effective at keeping the left all divided against itself. Will it ever change (or at least in the near future)?
Voting for one’s interest makes sense, especially given the messianic powers of the “Free Market” to solve all problems of human existence. It’s when people vote based on issues, even for candidates that are inherently against their own self-interests where the problem is.

[a guy who considers the US to be semi-benevolently fascist.]
Gotta love that!
I never thought of the US as “semi-benevolent” fascists, but that is something that makes me think lots – thanks!
It is true that in Europe there is a widespread malevolent feeling towards the US who think they can “police” the world. Some people even call it the new imperialism Roman style.
My dad once told me I shouldn’t go hide in the mouth of the one who’s devouring the freedom of others… pretty picturesque.
Italy fell back into a Berlusconian special hell – let’s hope his allies decide he’s corrupt, should be in jail and frankly he’s too short, old and ugly to be our Prime Minister!
I hate to see him on tv – it makes me nauseous.
I can’t vote here so I am not following the debate much, but it would be sort of stupid for the Republicans to argue – once they have a god chance, they shoudl just stick together and argue later!
Ah, stopping the war as soon as possible woudl be a good choice too – the public debt of the US is already pretty high (I hope “public debt” exists ha ha)!

Hey, Camilla,
I’m glad that people outside of the U.S. listen to this podcast so that I get comments like yours.
The U.S. did fall into being an “Empire” because of Bush and his neo-conservative cronies. He makes me ill just like Berlusconi makes you ill! I watched a recent Italian newscast and was surprised to see that Berlusconi is once again under scrutiny. Good! If only that would happen with Bush here in the U.S.!
I love what your dad told you about coming to the States, that you, “shouldn’t go hide in the mouth of the one who’s devouring the freedom of others…. Not only picturesque but also insightful!

I am a new listener and went back as far as I could to hear your great show! I love your insight on the election – very well done!
